The proper way to vacuum
Contrary to popular belief, there is a right way to vacuum, and unless you are a clean freak or a Virgo, you’re probably not doing it as thoroughly as you should be. Running the vacuum over the carpet a couple of times gets the job done, but it is not the most efficient way to make sure you get the most from your vacuuming session.
How to Vacuum Properly
- Use the crevice attachment first. Not only because you don’t want to do it last, but vacuuming the crevices before you start vacuuming the body of the carpet is a good way to free any dirt hiding in the corners of the room.
- Vacuum horizontally and then vertically. Yes, you’re going to vacuum both horizontally and vertically. This means you will run your vacuum over the carpet twice, ensuring the carpet fibers are lifted and that any embedded dirt is removed. This is especially important if you have pet hair and dander in the carpet.
- Start away from the door and vacuum out of the room. One of the best things about a freshly vacuumed room is seeing those beautiful vacuum marks when you walk back into the room. The best way to achieve this is by starting at the corner farthest from the door and vacuuming toward the exit.
A proper and thorough vacuuming session with a quality vacuum, such as the ZeroG weightless vacuum, means not only will you have a perfectly clean carpet, you will also be able to lessen the number of days you spend vacuuming every week. Each session may take a little bit longer, but in the end, you will spend a lot less time vacuuming because you’re doing it right each time.
